==Early life and education== Field was born on 6 October 1964 at the British Military Hospital<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.qaranc.co.uk/bmhanover.php|title=BMH Hannover β British Military Hospital Germany|website=www.qaranc.co.uk}}</ref> in [[Hanover]], Germany. His father Peter (died 1991) was a major in the [[British Army]] and his mother Ulrike (''nΓ©e'' Peipe, died 2010) was of [[German people|German]] origin. During his student days, Field set up a publishing firm after spotting a gap in the market for [[Career guide|careers handbooks]] in the legal profession.
