==Early life and career== Ancram was born in London and is the elder son and second child of [[Peter Kerr, 12th Marquess of Lothian]], and his wife [[Antonella Kerr, Marchioness of Lothian|Antonella]].<ref name="Official Website">{{cite web |url=http://www.michaelancram.com/biography.aspx |archive-url=https://archive.today/20051228030954/http://www.michaelancram.com/biography.aspx |url-status=dead |archive-date=28 December 2005 |work=MichaelAncram.com |title=Biography |access-date=9 September 2013 }}</ref> He was educated at [[Ampleforth College]] in [[North Yorkshire]].
