==History== In 1838, [[Eli Smith]] noted the village (named ''Menyarah''), whose inhabitants were [[Greek Orthodox Christianity in Lebanon|Greek Orthodox]], located west of [[esh-Sheikh Mohammed]].<ref>Robinson and Smith, 1841, vol 3, 2nd appendix, p. [https://archive.org/stream/biblicalresearch03robiuoft#page/183/mode/1up 183]</ref> In 1856 it was named ''Menyarah'' on [[Kiepert maps of Palestine and Jerusalem|Kiepert's map of Palestine]]/Lebanon published that year,<ref>Kiepert, 1856, [https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:1856_Kiepert_Map_of_Lebanon_-_Geographicus_-_Lebanon-kiepert-1856.jpg Map of Northern Palestine/Lebanon]</ref> Miniara is the birthplace of Ibrahim ''Beik'' El-Sarraf, the first member of the Lebanese parliament to represent the Christian seat of [[Akkar]] for 2 terms when [[Lebanon]] was still a French Mandate, and his younger brother "Afandi" Zeki EL Sarraf the first mayor in the municipality of Akkar in his village Miniara.{{Citation needed|date=November 2016}} Dr Yacoub El Sarraf, son of Ibrahim El Sarraf, was elected the Minister of Health of Lebanon in 1964<ref>{{cite web |title=Ministers of Health |url=https://www.moph.gov.lb/en/Pages/9/1024/the-ministry |publisher=The Ministry of Public Health}}</ref> and was known for treating poor people free of charge and his many public services.--.
