==Signs and symptoms==
Symptoms of polyps include [[nasal congestion]], [[sinusitis]], [[anosmia|loss of smell]], thick nasal discharge, facial pressure, nasal speech, and mouth breathing.<ref name="Murr2016" /> Recurrent [[sinusitis]] can result from polyps.<ref name="Zit2018" /> Long-term, nasal polyps can cause destruction of the nasal bones and broadening of the nose.<ref name="Zit2018" />

As polyps grow larger, they eventually prolapse into the [[nasal cavity]], resulting in symptoms.<ref name="Mid2014">{{Cite book |last=Bachert |first=Claus |title=Middleton's Allergy: Principles and Practice |publisher=Elsevier Health Sciences |year=2014 |isbn=9780323113328 |pages=686–699}}</ref> The most prominent symptoms of nasal polyps is blockage of the nasal passage.<ref name=Peds2016/> People with nasal polyps due to [[aspirin intolerance]] often have a disease known as [[aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease]], which consists of asthma and chronic nasal polyps along with a hypersensitivity reaction to aspirin.<ref name=Murr2016/>
