== Geography == The town is located on the Bay of [[Ilha Grande]], which is dotted with many tropical islands. Rising as high as 1,300 meters behind the town are [[tropical forest]]s, mountains, and waterfalls. It is the southernmost and westernmost city in Rio de Janeiro state. Paraty is listed by IPHAN as a National Historic Landmark. Temperature lows range from {{convert|11|to|19|°C}}, while highs range from {{convert|23|to|29|°C}}. Its wettest month is January, with an average of 19 rainfall days.
