==Early life and education== Oliphant was born on 24 July 1935, in [[Maylands, South Australia|Maylands]], a suburb of [[Adelaide]], Australia, to Donald Knox Oliphant and Grace Lillian Oliphant (nΓ©e Price) of [[Rosslyn Park, South Australia|Rosslyn Park]]. He was raised in a small cabin in [[Aldgate, South Australia|Aldgate]], in the [[Adelaide Hills]].
