==History== Perham was [[plat]]ted in 1873 and named for Josiah Perham, first president of the [[Northern Pacific Railway]].<ref name="Upham 397">{{cite book | url=https://books.google.com/books?id=ShcLAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA397 | title=Minnesota Geographic Names: Their Origin and Historic Significance | publisher=Minnesota Historical Society | last=Upham | first=Warren | year=1920 | page=397}}</ref> As the village grew in economic importance, the surrounding township was renamed [[Perham Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota|Perham Township]] in 1877. Perham was incorporated in 1881.<ref name="Upham 397" />
