The term "Dupuytren fracture" refers to the same mechanism,<ref name="pmid8318982">{{cite journal |author=Sartoris DJ |title=Eponymic fractures of the ankle |journal=The Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery |volume=32 |issue=2 |pages=239–41 |year=1993 |pmid=8318982 }}</ref> and it is named for [[Guillaume Dupuytren]].<ref>Dupuytren, G. Paris, 1: 2-212.</ref> Pott did not describe disruption of the tibio-fibular ligament, whereas Dupuytren did.{{Citation needed|date=April 2017}}
