His father is believed to be Mohammed Abdul Karim from [[Balochistan, Pakistan|Balochistan]], Pakistan. In 1986, he enrolled at [[Swansea Metropolitan University|Swansea Institute]] in Wales, where he studied [[electrical engineering]], graduating four years later.<ref name="web">Wallace, Charles. Yousef left the United Kingdom after completing his studies and returned to Pakistan.
