==Ship history== The ship was ordered from Fleming & Ferguson Ltd. of [[Paisley, Renfrewshire|Paisley]] on 23 January 1943 as a {{sclass2|Castle|corvette}}. She was launched on 8 September 1944 as ''Scarborough Castle'' (K536), but further work was then cancelled, and she was eventually completed as a convoy rescue ship in January 1945. Under the ownership of the [[Ministry of War Transport]], and managed by the [[Ellerman Lines|Ellerman City Line]], she sailed on eight convoys between early February and the end of the war in Europe in May 1945. During that time she rescued three survivors from an aircraft which had overrun the flight deck of the [[Merchant aircraft carrier|MAC ship]] {{MV|Empire MacAlpine}}.<ref name="historicalrfa"/> Post-war she was transferred to the Transport Branch of the [[Royal Army Service Corps]] for service as a [[Troopship|troop transport]].<ref name="historicalrfa"/> In October 1945 she sailed from the Clyde to [[Arkhangelsk]]<ref name="portsDB">{{cite web |url=http://www.convoyweb.org.uk/ports/index.html?search.php?vessel=EMPIRE%20PEACEMAKER~armain |title=Ports Database: Ship Movements |first=Arnold |last=Hague |work=convoyweb.org.uk |year=2009 |accessdate=16 November 2012}}</ref> to repatriate a Royal Navy Shore Party.<ref name="historicalrfa"/> In January 1946 she made three voyages between [[Southampton]] and [[Saint Helier|St. Helier]], Jersey, carrying returning service personnel.<ref>{{cite web |url=http://www.avoncliffe.com/genealogy/jersey/shipping.htm |title=Post War Shipping |first=Geoff |last=Wright |work=avoncliffe.com |year=2008 |accessdate=16 November 2012}}</ref> In 1952 ''Empire Peacemaker'', ''[[Empire Shelter]]'' and ''[[List of Empire ships (L)#Empire Lifeguard|Empire Lifeguard]]'' provided a shuttle ferry service for Army personnel between [[Port Said]], Egypt, and [[Famagusta]], Cyprus, as well as making occasional troop movement voyages to Libya and Malta.<ref>{{cite web |url=http://www.movcon.org.uk/History/Documents/DID/D-MCHS%200277/D-MCHS%200277.htm |title=Movement Control Port Said (1952-1955) |first=John |last=Cornfoot |work=movcon.org.uk |year=2010 |accessdate=16 November 2012}}</ref> ''Empire Peacemaker'' was finally laid up at [[Falmouth, Cornwall]], in 1954.
