He graduated from [[Kaiserslautern American High School]] in [[Kaiserslautern]] west of [[Mannheim|Mannheim, Germany]] in 1979. He earned a [[Bachelor of Arts]] degree from [[Franklin & Marshall College]] in [[Lancaster, Pennsylvania]].
