==Early life and education== Singh was born in a Sikh family<ref>{{cite news|url=https://www.architectsjournal.co.uk/archive/a-life-in-architecture-simon-singh|title=a life in architecture: simon singh|date=8 June 2000|work=[[Architects' Journal]]|access-date=8 November 2022}}</ref> to parents who emigrated from [[Punjab, India]] to Britain in 1950. He is the youngest of three brothers, his eldest brother being [[Tom Singh]], the founder of the UK [[New Look (store)|New Look]] chain of stores. Singh grew up in [[Wellington, Somerset]], attending [[Wellington School, Somerset|Wellington School]], and went on to [[Imperial College London]], where he studied [[physics]].
