==Early life== Forbert was born in [[Meridian, Mississippi]], United States.<ref name="Larkin">{{cite book|title=[[Encyclopedia of Popular Music|The Virgin Encyclopedia of Popular Music]]|editor=Colin Larkin|editor-link=Colin Larkin (writer)|publisher=[[Virgin Books]]|date=1997|edition=Concise|isbn=1-85227-745-9|page=477}}</ref> As a child, he fell in love with music, even playing air guitar in a pretend band he called The Mosquitos. Due to a fascination with [[Top 40]] radio, he proclaimed himself a "music junkie." At 17, he started writing songs.
