==Etymology== Megiddo was known in the [[Akkadian language]] used in [[Assyria]] as Magiddu, Magaddu. In [[Egyptian language|Egyptian]], it was Maketi, Makitu, and Makedo. In the Canaanite-influenced Akkadian used in the [[Amarna letters]], it was known as Magidda and Makida.
