==History== [[Antonia Nava de Catalán]], a heroine of the [[Mexican War of Independence]], was born in Tixtla.<ref>{{citation|language=es|title=Nava de Catalán, Antonia |author=JSA/JOSR|publisher=Guerrero Cultural Siglo XXI|work=enciclopediagro |url=http://www.enciclopediagro.org/index.php/indices/indice-de-biografias/1048-nava-de-catalan-antonia|access-date=2017-11-27}}</ref> Tixtla was also the birthplace of both Independence hero and Mexican president [[Vicente Guerrero]] (1783–1831) and writer and educator [[Ignacio Manuel Altamirano]] (1834–1893).
