==From the {{lang|nap|casedda}} to the {{lang|it|trullo}}== The Italian term ''trullo'' (from the Greek word {{lang|grc|τρούλος}}, cupola) refers to a house whose internal space is covered by a dry stone corbelled or keystone [[Vault (architecture)|vault]]. {{lang|it|Trullo}} is an Italianized form of the dialectal term, {{lang|nap|truddu}}, used in a specific area of the [[Salento|Salentine peninsula]] (i.e. Lizzaio, Maruggio, and Avetrana, in other words, outside the Murgia dei Trulli proper), where it is the name of the local agricultural dry stone hut. {{lang|it|Trullo}} has replaced the local term {{lang|nap|casedda}} (pl. {{lang|nap|casedde}}) (Italian {{lang|it|casetta}}, pl. {{lang|it|casette}}), which was used by locals in the Murgia to call this type of house.<ref>Benito Spano, La Murgia dei trulli, chapter VII of ''La casa rurale nella Puglia'', 1970, p. 184, note 2.</ref> A stonemason specializing in the building of {{lang|it|trulli}} is a {{lang|it|trullisto}} or {{lang|it|trullaro}} in Italian. The corresponding dialectal term is {{lang|nap|caseddaro}} ({{lang|nap|caseddari}} in the plural), i.e. builder of {{lang|nap|casedde}}.<ref>Vocabulaire italien-français de l'architecture rurale en pierre sèche, in ''L'architecture rurale'', CERAR, Paris, 1979.</ref>
