==Name== The drawing is described by Leonardo's notes as {{lang|it|Le proporzioni del corpo umano secondo Vitruvio}},{{sfn|Palmer|2018|p=153}} variously translated as ''The Proportions of the Human Figure after Vitruvius'',{{sfn|Zöllner|2015|p=37}} or ''Proportional Study of a Man in the Manner of Vitruvius''.{{sfn|Kemp|1981|p=116}} It is much better known as the ''Vitruvian Man''.{{sfn|Palmer|2018|p=153}} The art historian [[Carlo Pedretti]] lists it as ''Homo Vitruvius, study of proportions with the human figure inscribed in a circle and a square'', and later as simply ''Homo Vitruvius''.{{sfn|Pedretti|2006|pp=80–82}}
