==The Colt Cowboy== Starting in 1999, Colt began manufacturing a version of the Single Action Army revolver with a modern [[Safety (firearms)#Transfer bar|transfer bar safety]], allowing it to be carried with the hammer resting on a loaded chamber. The Colt Cowboy, as it was named, was designed to be more affordable than the Single Action Army. It was offered with barrel lengths of 4.75", 5.5", and 7.5". The 7.5" variant was discontinued in 1999, as was the 4.75" variant, which was reintroduced in 2002. Manufacturing of the Colt Cowboy was discontinued in 2003.<ref>{{cite news |url=http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BTT/is_143_23/ai_56221732/ |work=American Handgunner |first=John |last=Taffin |title=Colt Rides Again! |year=1999 |url-status=dead |access-date=January 20, 2011 |archive-date=May 27, 2007 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20070527033801/http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BTT/is_143_23/ai_56221732 }}</ref>
