==Construction programme==
The ships were built at the major UK yards, with some of the machinery coming from [[Associated Electrical Industries]] of Manchester, [[Parsons Marine Steam Turbine Company]] of Wallsend-on-Tyne, [[John I. Thornycroft & Company]] of Southampton, [[Yarrow Shipbuilders|Yarrows]] of Glasgow, and the [[Wallsend Slipway and Engineering Company]], Wallsend-on-Tyne.
