==Family== Gordon's maternal grandfather was Captain [[Edward L. Baker Jr.]], who received the [[Medal of Honor]] during the [[Spanish–American War]], while serving with the 10th Cavalry Regiment (also known as the [[Buffalo Soldiers]]).{{Citation needed|date=March 2024}} Gordon's father, Dr. Frank Gordon, M.D., was one of the first prominent African-American physicians and a graduate of [[Howard University]].{{Citation needed|date=March 2024}} Gordon's uncle, Clifford Myota Gordon, was a charter member of the Alpha Delta chapter of [[Alpha Phi Alpha]] fraternity, seated at the [[University of Southern California]]. <ref>{{Citation |last=Gordon |first=Maxine |title=2.
