==Young Turk Revolution== Young Turk Revolution In April 1908, the Committee of Union and Progress (more commonly called the Young Turks), a political party opposed to the despotic rule of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, led a rebellion against the Sultan. The pro-reform Young Turks deposed the Sultan by July 1909, replacing him with the ineffective Mehmed V. This began the Second Constitutional Era of the Ottoman Empire. In the following years, various constitutional and political reforms were instituted, but the decay of the Ottoman Empire continued.
