Davey was reelected in the 2019 general election, winning over 50% of the vote in Kingston and Surbiton for the first time since 2005. Following Jo Swinson's resignation as a result of losing her seat in [[2019 United Kingdom general election|the 2019 general election]], Davey became interim co-leader alongside the party president (at first [[Sal Brinton|Baroness Brinton]], and then [[Mark Pack, Baron Pack|Mark Pack]]).{{Citation needed|date=April 2025}}
