After a memorial service outside the Polk Street entrance of San Francisco City Hall on 29 November 1978, Mayor [[George Moscone]] and city Supervisor [[Harvey Milk]] lay in state in the Rotunda until 30 November, after [[Moscone–Milk assassinations|their assassination]] by former Supervisor [[Dan White]].
