The He Tohu exhibition displays three nationally significant documents which are on loan from Archives New Zealand's holdings.

* Te Tiriti o Waitangi / The [[Treaty of Waitangi]] (1840)
* [[Declaration of the Independence of New Zealand|He Whakaputanga]] / Declaration of the Independence of the United Tribes of New Zealand (1835)
* [[1893 Women's Suffrage Petition|Women's Suffrage Petition]] / Te Petihana Whakamana Pōti Wahine (1893)
