=== Equipped squats === For the squats, a squat suit is used for the event. Squat suits are typically made of an elastic-like material, and a single-ply polyester layer.<ref>{{Cite web |date=2017-09-16 |title=What are Squat Suits and Bench Shirts? |url=https://www.ypsi.de/blogs/english-articles/what-are-squat-suits-and-bench-shirts |access-date=2024-08-22 |website=YPSI |language=de}}</ref> This allows a competitor to spring out of the bottom of a squat (called "popping out of the hole" in powerlifting circles) by maintaining rigidity, keeping the athlete upright and encouraging their hips to remain parallel with the floor.<ref>{{Cite web |date=December 6, 2023 |title=The Power of Performance: Why Do You Wear a Squat Suit? It gives the lifter more spring, or pop out of the hole of the squat resulting in a heavier and faster squat.<ref>{{Cite journal |last1=Lake |first1=Jason P. |last2=Carden |first2=Patrick J.
