In 1995, Land Rover enlarged the Rover V8 to {{convert|4552|cc|L cuin|1|abbr=on}}. The bore remained the same size as the previous 4.0 at {{convert|94|mm|in|abbr=on}}, but the engine was stroked by {{convert|10.9|mm|in||abbr=on}} giving {{convert|82|mm|in|2|abbr=on}} in total. Output was {{convert|225|hp|kW PS|0|abbr=on}} and {{convert|280|lbft|Nm|0|abbr=on}}.

Production of the 4.6 ended at [[Solihull]], UK, in 2004. The final version, introduced in the [[Land Rover Range Rover|Range Rover P38]], produced {{convert|218|hp|kW PS|0|abbr=on}} at 4,750&nbsp;rpm and {{convert|300|lbft|Nm|0|abbr=on}} at 2,600&nbsp;rpm.

The last mass-produced application of the Rover V8 was in the [[Land Rover Discovery]], up until the vehicle was redesigned in 2005. It is still used by some hand-built sports cars built by some independent manufacturers.
