[[Al-Tabari]] (d.923) suggested this referred to the Israelites' settlement in the [[Palestine region]] or [[Canaan]]. [[Al-Zamakhshari]] (d. 1144) suggested this referred to Egypt devoid of [[Pharaoh in Islam|Pharaoh]]. [[Al-Qurtubi]] (d. 1272) suggested both.<ref name=SQMMD/>
