Since GNOME 3.18, Web is configured to [[Ad blocking|block ads]] and pop-ups by default.<ref name="gnome.org1"/> In GNOME 3.34, the existing ad blocker was removed. This code was only partially functional and had been the source of many bugs. One of the developers, Adrián Pérez de Castro, compared the old and new ad blockers.
