In March the board of Alvis Vickers voted in favor of the £309m takeover. However at the last minute [[BAE Systems]] offered £355m for the company. The US alleged that GD defectively manufactured or failed to test parts used in US military aircraft from September 2001 to August 2003, such as for the [[C-141 Starlifter]] transport plane.
