== Coinage and imperial ideology == The majority of his Khosrow II's design ideas on Sasanian coins were abandoned by Kavad II, including the numerous rims on the obverse and reverse, Verethragna's wings in the crown, the word xwarrah ("royal splendor)" and a star symbol, which had replaced the korymbos.Schindel On the obverse of Kavad II's coins, the engraving reads Kawād pērōz ("Kavad the victorious"). Although the previous Sasanian monarch Kavad I () was not portrayed positively by the royal propaganda of Kavad II, the latter still chose to adopt his name. Schindel calls this choice "somewhat surprising".Schindel
