Upon his confirmation as heir presumptive, he acquired the noble title of [[Tupoutoʻa]], traditionally reserved for crown princes, a position his older brother relinquished due to marrying a commoner, and was subsequently known as Tupoutoʻa Lavaka before ascending the throne.
