War Machine has been featured as a character in the [[Marvel Cinematic Universe]]. This version of Rhodes begins as the military liaison to [[Stark Industries]] as well as [[Tony Stark (Marvel Cinematic Universe)|Tony Stark]]'s best friend,{{Sfn|Chambliss|2015|pp=159–160}} and he serves as the responsible character who acts as a foil to Stark's impulsiveness.{{Sfn|Nama|2011|p=81}} He first appeared in the franchise's inaugural film, ''[[Iron Man (2008 film)|Iron Man]]'' (2008), played by [[Terrence Howard]].
