==Death== In January 1976, Burnett checked into the [[Edward Hines Jr. Veterans Administration Hospital]] in [[Hines, Illinois]], for kidney surgery. Three days before his death, a [[carcinoma]] was found in his brain. He died from a combination of the tumor, [[heart failure]], and kidney disease on January 10, 1976, at the age of 65.<ref name="Life and Times of Howlin' Wolf"/> He was buried in [[Oakridge Cemetery]], outside Chicago, in a plot in Section 18, on the east side of the road.
