===Incubation period=== The time of appearance of the symptoms from infection (called [[incubation period]]) is shortest for ''P. falciparum'' among ''Plasmodium'' species. An average incubation period is 11 days,<ref name=trampuz03/> but may range from 9 to 30 days.
