[[Czechoslovakia]] carried out a policy to sterilize [[Romani people|Romani]] women, starting in 1973 continuing through the [[Velvet Revolution]] of 1989. Beginning 2012 undergoing sterilization is a requirement for change of name and/or gender markers on official documents for all transgender people in Czechia.<ref>{{Cite web |date=2011-08-12 |title=373/2011 Sb.
