In the ''[[Heroes Reborn (2021 comic)|Heroes Reborn]]'' event, a change in the timeline results in a continuity in which the Squadron Supreme are Earth's mightiest heroes while the Avengers never came to be. His obsession with her drove him mentally unstable, leading him to kill her stalker, Miles Warren, and succeed him as the new '''Jackal'''. He eventually deduced that Gwen was the vigilante Nightbird and began killing people connected to her.
