==Digital projection== [[File:IMAX AMC BC 14.jpg|thumb|A typical entrance to an IMAX digital theater, such as the [[AMC Theatres|AMC]] Barton Creek Square 14 in [[Austin, Texas]]]] The [[digital cinema]] IMAX projection system, debuted in 2008, is designed for use with shorter 1.90:1 aspect ratio screens. The system uses two 2K projectors that can present either 2D or 3D content in [[Digital Cinema Initiatives|DCI]] or IMAX Digital Format (IDF; which in itself is a superset of DCI). For 3D presentations, one projector is used to display the image for each eye, while 2D presentations use the superimposed images to allow for a brighter 75 cd/m<sup>2</sup> image. To do so, IMAX developed a rail system that moves the projectors in and out to accommodate either a full-frame film print or a digital-only release.
