For trans women, emasculation surgery may be performed with or without the creation of a vagina. For [[non-binary]] transgender people, the purpose of emasculation is to make the body less congruent with one's assigned sex without the subsequent assumption of femininity. {{Sfn|Vale|Johnson|Jansen|Lawson|2010|p=43}} These individuals may identify as non-binary, a third-sex, eunuch, or another gender.
