Mablethorpe has long hosted motorbike sand racing each winter and spring. Each summer Mablethorpe hosts an illuminations event (a "switch on"), for which a celebrity is invited. Those officiating have included [[Barbara Windsor]], [[Timmy Mallett]] and [[Michael Van Wijk|Wolf]] and Hunter of ''[[Gladiators (1992 British TV series)|Gladiators]]''.
