== Sunday Afternoon Concerts in the Dome == On one Sunday each month during the warmer months of the year, Mt. Wilson Observatory hosts a chamber music or jazz concert in the dome.<ref name="Braz_2023">{{cite news |last1=Braz |first1=Anna |title=One of the most magnificent concert venues in L.A. is the dome of this 100-inch telescope |url=https://www.latimes.com/travel/story/2023-08-21/mount-wilson-observatory-dome-music-concert |access-date=15 June 2024 |publisher=Los Angeles Times |date=August 21, 2023 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20240302111528/https://www.latimes.com/travel/story/2023-08-21/mount-wilson-observatory-dome-music-concert |archive-date=Mar 2, 2024 |url-status=live}}</ref> The idea to use the dome as a venue for live music originated in 2017 from a conversation between Dan Kohne, a board member of the Mt. Wilson Institute, and Cécilia Tsan, an internationally recognized cellist.<ref name="Adamek_2021">{{cite news |last1=Adamek |first1=Pauline |title=Jazz Concerts in the Dome, Mt. Given that the observatory is no longer able to do significant research due to light pollution, it receives no scientific funding; the concerts therefore provide a significant portion of the budget needed to maintain the observatory as an historic landmark, along with ticketed events such as public viewing nights.<ref name="Purtill_2023">{{cite news |last1=Purtill |first1=Corinne |title=Saving Mt.
