===Coral QQ=== Coral QQ, a modification of Tencent QQ, is another add-on for the software, providing free access to some of the services and blocking Tencent's advertisements. In 2006, Tencent filed a copyright lawsuit against Chen Shoufu (aka Soft), the author of Coral QQ, after his distribution of a modified Tencent QQ was ruled illegal. Chen then published his modification as a separate add-on. On 16 August 2007, Chen was detained again for allegedly making profits off of his ad-blocking add-on.<ref>{{cite news | url=https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB119629787148507282 | work=The Wall Street Journal | title=Debate Over IM Add-Ons in China | first=Juliet | last=Ye | date=2007-11-29 | access-date=2017-08-09 | archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20170809173016/https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB119629787148507282 | archive-date=2017-08-09 | url-status=live }}</ref> The case resulted in a three-year prison sentence for Shoufu.<ref>{{cite news | url=https://www.chinatechnews.com/2008/11/26/8093-coral-qq-infringement-case-ends-with-prison-for-chen-shoufu | work=ChinaTechNews | title=Coral QQ Infringement Case Ends With Prison For Chen Shoufu | date=2008-11-26 | access-date=2021-01-25 | archive-date=2020-09-28 | archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20200928145720/https://www.chinatechnews.com/2008/11/26/8093-coral-qq-infringement-case-ends-with-prison-for-chen-shoufu | url-status=live }}</ref>
