SNPs can be easily assayed due to only containing two possible [[allele]]s and three possible [[genotype]]s involving the two alleles: [[Zygosity|homozygous]] A, homozygous B and [[Zygosity|heterozygous]] AB, leading to many possible techniques for analysis. Some include: [[DNA sequencing]]; [[capillary electrophoresis]]; [[mass spectrometry]]; [[single-strand conformation polymorphism]] (SSCP); [[Single-base extension|single base extension]]; electrochemical analysis; denaturating HPLC and [[gel electrophoresis]]; [[restriction fragment length polymorphism]]; and [[Hybridization assay|hybridization]] analysis.
