===Unification Church=== In 1981, the ''Daily Mail'' ran an investigation into the [[Unification Church]], nicknamed the Moonies, accusing them of ending marriages and brainwashing converts.<ref name="Lancaster-1998"/> The Unification Church, which always denied these claims, sued for libel but lost heavily. A jury awarded the ''Mail'' a then record-breaking Β£750,000 libel payout ({{Inflation|UK|750000|1981|fmt=eq|cursign=Β£}}).
