In 2019 a project was started to create a [[cross-platform software|cross-platform]] English-Chinese [[scorewriter]] that can print jianpu, Western or [[tablature]] staves and saves its scores in [[MusicXML]] using [[GNU Lesser General Public License|LGPL]] components.<ref>[https://www.xunscore.cn/index_en.html XunScore Music Notation Editor]. This is currently being distributed closed-source, with a small fee for non-Linux platforms (the payment method requires a China bank card). An x86 Linux binary can be downloaded without charge.</ref>

There are also technical methods of printing numbered notation (in various forms) with [[GNU LilyPond]]. Duolos SIL Cipher is a free font developed by [[SIL International]] and released under [[SIL Open Font License|OFL]] license, it makes use of [[Graphite (smart font technology)|Graphite]] and [[OpenType]] smart font technologies for laying out Jianpu and [[Kepatihan]], makes it possible to edit and print scores in numbered musical notation with [[word processor]]s, [[desktop publishing software]] and others, although it lacks of support for the slurs in OpenType applications.<ref>{{cite web |title=Doulos SIL Cipher |url=https://software.sil.org/doulos-sil-cipher/ |website=SIL Language Technology |date=23 April 2019 |access-date=23 April 2019}}</ref>

x-Vacle is another OFL-licensed font designed for numbered musical notation using OpenType technology, based on glyphs from other open-source fonts. [[Guitar Pro]] versions 8.1 and higher support numbered musical notation.
