The Clark County [[public transportation benefit area]] was approved by 55 percent of voters on November 4, 1980, along with a 0.3 percent sales tax,<ref name="WSDOT-1984">{{WSDOT Public Transit Summary |year=1984NTL |pages=19, 53 |link=yes |link2=yes |access-date=January 17, 2018}}</ref> and formally established on January 1, 1981.
