Spectra, headquartered in [[Houston, Texas]], operated in three key areas of the [[natural gas]] industry: transmission and storage, distribution, and gathering and processing.  Spectra was formed in late 2006 as a [[Corporate spin-off|spin-off]] from [[Duke Energy]].
