===Early independent releases (2000β2003)=== In 2000, Dunn, Clark, and Paige founded a [[Peterborough, Ontario|Peterborough]]-based group called "SWISH",<ref name="FJHdiscog">{{cite web|url=http://www.jesusfreakhideout.com/artists/hawknelson.asp |title=Hawk Nelson Discography, Hawk Nelson Artist Database |publisher=Jesusfreakhideout.com |access-date=March 3, 2011}}</ref> while Biro sang lead vocals for a four-piece group called the "Cheese Monkeys from Planet Nine" from [[Barrie, Ontario]]. In 2000, SWISH released their first independent album, ''Riding Around the Park'' on Mime Radio, an independent record label based in Peterborough.<ref name="FJHdiscog"/> In January 2002, Biro moved to Peterborough to join Dunn, Clark and Paige and SWISH was renamed "Reason Being", before finally settling with the name "Hawk Nelson".<ref>{{cite web|url=http://blogs.denverpost.com/highernote/2012/02/18/hawk-nelson-feels-growing-pains-as-jason-dunn-departs/3115/ |title=Hawk Nelson feels growing pains as Jason Dunn departs |work=The Denver Post |access-date=December 19, 2012}}</ref> In 2003, they released their second independent album, ''Saturday Rock Action''.<ref name="FJHdiscog"/>
