== Closure == Two hours before the broadcast of "[[Mabat LaHadashot]]" (A Glance at the News) on 9 May 2017, the staff was informed that it would be the last show.<ref name="Closure1">{{Cite web |url=http://www.cbsnews.com/news/israel-shuts-down-public-broadcaster-iba-and-ends-mabat-lahadashot/ |title=Public broadcasters reduced to tears over sudden shutdown |last=Berger |first=Robert |date=May 10, 2017 |publisher=CBS News}}</ref> Partial programming on Channel 1 resumed the next day, without news programs, while Channel 33 was shut down with just a slide explaining the closure in Arabic. All IBA Radio stations continued to broadcast news on the hour and music programming until 15 May. The final program shown by the IBA TV Channel 1 was the [[Eurovision Song Contest 2017]] where Israel was a finalist. A minimal crew of twenty people had remained to ensure a smooth broadcast of the second semi-final on 11 May, with the grand final on 13 May. The program was televised on Channel 1 with no commentary and subtitles during the program for voting purposes. IBA's 88FM radio station also broadcast the program, with live commentary by Kobi Menora, Dori Ben Zeโev and Alon Amir. During announcement of the Israeli jury's votes, announcer Ofer Nachshon bid farewell to the contest on behalf of the IBA.<ref name="Closure2">{{Cite web |url=http://esctoday.com/147825/israel-national-broadcaster-iba-officially-shut/ |title=Israel: National broadcaster IBA is officially shut down |last=Laufer |first=Gil |date=May 10, 2017 |publisher=ESC Today}}</ref><ref name="Closure3">{{Cite web |url=http://www.haaretz.com/life/television/.premium-1.788380 |title=Anger and Tears as Plug Pulled on Flagship News Show on Israeli Public Broadcaster|last=Stern |first=Itay |date=May 10, 2017 |publisher=Haaretz}}</ref><ref>{{Citation|title=Israeli Channel 1 Closedown (IBA Shutdown)|url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnimQYE5edU |archive-url=https://ghostarchive.org/varchive/youtube/20211221/qnimQYE5edU |archive-date=2021-12-21 |url-status=live|language=en|access-date=2020-01-09}}{{cbignore}}</ref> The final IBA transmission was a radio broadcast of the program ''Progressive and Other Animals'' on 88FM on 14 May, hosted by Boaz Cohen.
