After his studies, Neusner briefly taught at [[Dartmouth College]].<ref name=":1" /> Neusner also held positions at [[University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee]], [[Brandeis University]], and [[Brown University]]. He was a life member of [[Clare Hall, Cambridge|Clare Hall]], [[Cambridge University]]. He was the only scholar to have served on both the [[National Endowment for the Humanities]] and the [[National Endowment for the Arts]].{{Citation needed|date=March 2010}}
