Edwards served in the [[Royal Air Force]] during the [[World War II|Second World War]], was commissioned in April 1942, was awarded the [[Distinguished Flying Cross (United Kingdom)|Distinguished Flying Cross]], and ended the war as a [[flight lieutenant]].
